  News from November  2009

We will remember them

The11th November is a very poignant day for all, but for Ranvilles Juniors and our connection with HM Forces on a whole, it was clearly evident that the silence that hit our school at 11am  was one that was full of respect and reflection for those who fought or who are fighting for our future.

Christmas productions

Plans are well underway for the forthcoming Christmas productions. Be prepared for the children to be coming home with song sheets or scripts to learn too over the coming weeks. We really value all of your support that you give to the children assisting with this fun time of year.

 School grounds day 2009

The school grounds are looking fantastic after our School Grounds day on Friday 6th November. Have a look at our events page for more information and lots of pictures on the galleries page too! Watch this space for information about our recent press releases!

Caribbean songs

If you're in need of a winter warmer, why not have a listen to our first podcast. Some Year 6 children have recorded their Caribbean song especially for the website. Click here to be whisked away on a Caribbean journey!

Goodbyes are never easy.

Friday 6th November brought a very special assembly for a very special person. After 17 years of service as a Governor, Pam Smith bid farewell to the school. Pam has seen so many changes both within and outside of the school over the years, and leaves with many special memories. We'd like to take this opportunity again to say a HUGE THANK YOU for all of her time and dedication to the school, and hope she'll come back and visit very soon!

Green Flag awarded to Ranvilles Junior School!

Eco-Schools is an international award programme that guides schools on their sustainable journey, providing a framework to help embed these principles into the heart of school life. Over the past few years we have been working towards gaining one of three awards – Bronze, Silver and the prestigious Green Flag award, which symbolises excellence in the field of environmental activity. We attained Silver and Bronze awards in 2007 and 2008 and on Friday 9th October 2009 we were assessed by a team of Judges from Keep Britain Tidy. We heard earlier on this week that we have achieved our
GREEN FLAG AWARD!
Congratulations to everyone in the school for their fantastic effort and in particular the Green Team members and Mr Proctor! Well done everyone!

We're going even GREENER!

Over the coming months we'll be making a special effort to ensure that we reduce the amount of paper we use for letters and newsletters coming home from the school. We'll be ensuring that all important letters home are detailed on the Communications Home part of the website so you'll always be kept in the loop of what's happening  here at Ranvilles. Watch this space and next week's Buzz for more information.
